The Bachelor Degree Program includes general education requirements, an in-depth study in at least one major area of concentration, and elective courses. These requirements are listed in detail under each area of specialization.
To qualify for a degree from AUST, the student must
Complete a minimum of 8 semesters of residence at AUST, beginning with the Freshman Level; a minimum of 6 semesters beginning with the Sophomore Level; and, a minimum of 4 semesters beginning with the Junior Level. Transfer students admitted to the Senior Level must complete all departmental and general graduation requirements at AUST.
Complete the graduation requirements within a maximum period of 6 academic years from the time of admission. Extension beyond 6 years requires the approval of the academic unit concerned.
Complete a minimum of 135 credit hours beginning with the Freshman Level;105 beginning with the Sophomore Level; and, 65 beginning with the Junior Level.
Complete all the courses in the major field of study with a minimum cumulative average of 2.00 (C). Candidates who obtain a grade of less than 2.00 in a major course must repeat the course in order to raise the grade to 2.00 (C).
When a student repeats a course, the higher grade obtained will be used in computing the grade point average
A grade of “C” is required in each of ENG 201 & ENG 202 under college requirements for all majors
Students cannot graduate with a “D” grade in a core, major course, or a technical elective
Graduation with Honors
Graduation with honors requires that the student complete all requirements with a cumulative GPA ranging between 3.00 and 3.49.
Graduation with Distinction
Graduation with distinction requires that the student complete all requirements with a cumulative GPA ranging between 3.50 and 3.79, and be recommended by the concerned department.
Graduation with High Distinction
Graduation with high distinction requires that the student complete all requirements with a cumulative GPA ranging between 3.80 and 4.00, and be recommended by the concerned department.
The Commencement Exercises are held each year in July. Graduates of Fall and Spring Semesters may participate in the Commencement Exercises, and should notify the Registrar’s Office no later than June 10. Graduates who do not wish to attend the exercises, may collect their degrees later from the Registrar’s Office.
